Is Jodie leaving Coronation Street? Answers revealed

Is the wicked witch of Weatherfield on her way out? Apparently not… (Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV) Coronation Street’s Olivia Frances-Brown isn’t saying goodbye to her scheming soap alter-ego Jodie Ramsey just yet, despite a potentially fatal twist next week. Jodie was introduced to us at the start of the year, during ITV’s Corriedale episode. She was in the back of Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) van, and made her way to Weatherfield following the multi-vehicle pile up. We discovered that Jodie is Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) sister. The new face wasn’t on the cobbles to reconnect though, as fans learnt that she was hellbent on destroying her sibling’s life. When she’s not focused on her revenge against Shona, Jodie passes the time by meddling with other residents including Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove), Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) and Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner). Despite the fact the storyline with Jodie, Shona and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is going to take a big turn in Corrie soon, the conclusion of Jodie’s time on the cobbles isn’t on the horizon at the moment. According to The Sun, star Olivia Frances-Brown has signed a new contract with the ITV soap, which means she will play Jodie for at least another year. She’s lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs – which obviously isn’t reality! She’s just completely hooked on that idea now. ‘She sees David as the answer to everything. She’s convinced herself that if she gets him and takes over that life, she’ll finally be content. Little does she know that probably wouldn’t be the case at all.’ Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. Jodie hates Shona for leaving her at the mercy of their mentally-unwell dad Doug (Steve Evets) when she was just a child. To be fair, Shona was a pregnant teenage mum who was desperate to escape – but Jodie’s not interested in excuses. The storyline will take a huge turn next week (Picture: ITV) ‘She practically worships Shona’ Olivia shared. ‘So much so that they’ve got matching tattoos. But those feelings are mixed with animosity that comes from childhood abandonment.’ ‘Jodie idolises Shona so much that she literally wants to step into her shoes, take over her life and know what that feels like.’ Olivia explains. ‘By taking over David, the house, the role with Harper – she genuinely wants to know how it feels to be Shona. ‘She loves her sister, but she wishes Shona had treated her differently throughout her life. There’s a deep need to get her own back and have some sort of revenge. As much as she cares about their relationship, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the happiness she feels she deserves.’ Who’ll come out on top? (Picture: Mark Bruce) Next week, the gun that Jodie stole from Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) comes out to play when Shona finally confronts her sister over the litany of wicked games she’s enacted against her. In a flashforward, paramedics are tending to someone in the Platt house, with the living room clearly having been the seen of an explosive showdown. As we return to the present moment, everything is put on the table between the sisters, as accusations fly, long-buried secrets are exposed and finally, a bullet flies through the air… Deals of the Day Kurt Geiger's new Notting Hill collection is a love letter to London's chaotic weather I’ve found the Hoover gadget that could make cleaning your floors so much easier I tried L'Oréal Paris's new PDRN serum and my skin looked glossier after one use This new Cricut gadget turns your favourite photos into stickers in minutes From kitchen hatches to burgundy walls – the biggest home trends for 2027 …but who has it hit?
