A large part of that stems from her role as Jessa on Girls, but it’s also her real-estate choices: She has bounced around the borough for well over a decade, picking up and selling a townhouse in Carroll Gardens, followed by her pink-heavy fun house in Red Hook, which she sold for $2.5 million in 2024. So it was a little surprising to see that Kirke and her mother, Lorraine, had purchased a Chelsea co-op apartment for $2.35 million this month, according to recent property records. The Kirkes’ 1,750-square-foot apartment is on the 11th floor of London Terrace Towers, a prewar complex of four corner buildings with a nearly block-long interior courtyard. While the 700-unit development is close to the High Line and the neighborhood’s blue-chip galleries — a likely boon for Kirke, who has long seen herself as more of a portrait painter than an actress — London Terrace itself is also a bit of a puzzling leap after townhouse living. The three-bed, three-bath apartment itself is airy but also pretty uninspired, especially when compared to the pink-and-butterscotch tilework and blue-painted exposed brick that lined her Red Hook home. There’s an open-concept kitchen with a quartz waterfall island, dark-stained hardwood floors, and a lot of white. That’s not to say it’s completely charmless: The coffered ceilings are a nice touch, there’s ample closet space and built-ins, and eight casement windows with views of the Manhattan skyline include “glimpses” of the Empire State Building, per the listing. There’s also enough room for a home office next to the windowless third bedroom, which perhaps Kirke could use when working on any future advice columns or writing her own industry tell-all. Of course, the simplicity of the space does raise the question of whether this is simply an investment property for the pair. Lorraine understandably declined to comment, and a number listed for Kirke didn’t respond to my messages.
