Iraqi, Saudi foreign ministers hold telephone call after drone attack

Live Blog Update| War on Iran 12 September 2026 00:14 BST Foreign ministers of Iraq and Saudi Arabia spoke on the phone early Saturday morning after a drone launched from Iraqi territory targeted the kingdom's East-West oil pipeline. Iraqi foreign minister Fuad Hussein and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud exchanged views “on the latest developments in the region and developments of common interest”, according to Iraqi foreign ministry. The ministry said the two sides “stressed the importance of continued communication, coordination and consultation between the two countries, which contributes to supporting security and stability in the region and enhancing joint cooperation”. Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier condemned the drone attack on the East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah, which resulted in injuries and damages.
