Iraqi PM to visit Tehran at the end of the week

Photo: INA Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi will visit Iran at the end of this week to sign multiple memoranda of understanding on bilateral cooperation. The ministry said in a statement that Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Mohammed Bahr al-Uloom and Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad al-Sadegh discussed in Baghdad bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran as well as the agenda of al-Zaidi’s upcoming visit to Tehran. The discussions addressed the ongoing preparations for the visit, including agreement in different areas that would deepen bilateral ties and benefit both nations’ shared interests, the state-run news agency (INA) reported. The visit comes immediately after al-Zaidi’s first official foreign trip to the United States, where he signed 48 commercial agreements with American companies after meeting with President Donald Trump. Following his visit to Tehran, al-Zaidi plans to continue his regional diplomatic tour, which will include stops in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
