The discussions will include finalizing several agreements and memoranda of understanding in the economic and investment sectors, strengthening the partnership between Iraq and Germany, according to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA). Al-Zaidi’s trip to Germany represents a crucial step in the Iraqi government’s efforts to enhance economic relationships with other countries and international businesses. The visit aims to attract foreign investment and leverage German expertise and technology to foster Iraq’s development. The talks will focus on collaboration in the energy, industry, infrastructure, transportation, water, and service sectors, as well as strategies to boost the capabilities of the private sector and increase Germany’s engagement in Iraq’s major initiatives. The expected agreements will create new opportunities for German investments and facilitate the execution of economically viable development projects. The step aligns with the government’s efforts to diversify its economic resources and lessen reliance on revenue from oil exports. Al-Zaidi’s visit to Germany comes a day after he concluded a trip to the French capital, Paris, where he and President Emmanuel Macron oversaw the signing of six memoranda of understanding covering air defense, military supply, energy supplies, civil aviation, development finance, and youth and innovation support.
