Al-Zaidi’s remarks took place during his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during his official visit to Jordan. The high-level talks focused on regional security, bilateral coordination, and the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). President Abbas renewed his congratulations to al-Zaidi on assuming office earlier in the year, wishing him success in his new leadership role. Al-Zaidi stressed the necessity of regional and international coordination to restore the Palestinians’ full historical rights. Abbas commended Iraq’s tangible assistance, including its political backing at the United Nations, financial support for UNRWA, medical care provided to injured Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, and its hospitality toward Palestinian refugees living in Iraq. The two leaders discussed reactivating the joint Palestinian-Iraqi committee to deepen long-term collaboration across political, economic, cultural, and educational sectors. The meeting was held on the sidelines of al-Zaidi’s broader diplomatic trip to Amman, where he met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and signed nine bilateral cooperation agreements.
