Al-Zaidi reiterated the Iraqi government’s condemnation of the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as well as any harm perpetrated on individuals and facilities during conflicts. He noted that such acts endanger regional stability, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The Iraqi prime minister restated Iraq’s unequivocal opposition to actions that jeopardize the security of Saudi Arabia and other nations in the region. He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty of Iraq and neighboring countries. The meeting focused on strategies to enhance Iraqi-Saudi relations across various sectors, particularly through collaboration on security matters to address regional security challenges. The Saudi crown prince reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for the Iraqi government’s efforts to promote dialog and achieve stability in the region. Al-Zaidi said earlier that the Iraqi-Saudi ties are important due to the political and economic weight of both countries, as well as Arab linkages and shared geographic, economic, and security interests. Both Iraq and Saudi Arabia have made notable progress in rebuilding trust and promoting collaborative initiatives, which are vital for strengthening their bilateral relations, according to Al-Zaidi. The prime minister added that Iraq’s security and Saudi Arabia’s stability are both critical to the peace of the Gulf States and the balance in the region.
