Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Mousawi disclosed that the Prime Minister contributed 47 billion Iraqi dinars out of his personal funds to underwrite the long-overdue infrastructure upgrades after engineering assessments confirmed an absolute absence of allocated state budget lines for the capital projects. The structural renovation campaign spans anchor healthcare institutions across the capital, comprising Baghdad Hospital within the Medical City complex, Al-Kadhimiya Teaching Hospital, Al-Kindi Hospital, Al-Yarmouk Hospital, and Al-Zafraniya Hospital. In addition to covering the full 47-billion-dinar reconstruction bill, Al-Mousawi revealed that Al-Zaidi personally donated $2 million directly to the Ministry of Health to procure an essential, life-saving pharmaceutical supply that faced severe procurement delays due to funding shortfalls, allowing specialized medical crews to begin immediate rehabilitation works across the designated hospital wards. Al-Mousawi explained that publicly spotlighting these targeted private contributions serves to cultivate broader philanthropic and civic engagement, urging corporate institutions and private-sector actors to step forward and assist in rebuilding the country’s burdened healthcare architecture. The health minister highlighted that this collaborative model has already yielded tangible support from the Association of Private Hospitals, which responded by significantly expanding its corporate social responsibility commitments, pledging to conduct 10 specialized surgical procedures free of charge each month, well exceeding the initial civic target of four surgeries.
