Kuwait’s Interior Ministry stated on Sunday that the operation was carried out in conjunction with Iraqi officials and resulted in the arrest of two individuals at livestock farms in Kuwait’s Kabd region. The suspects, one an Arab citizen and the other designated by Kuwaiti officials as an unlawful resident, were discovered with a significant consignment of Captagon tablets, the ministry said. Authorities claimed the two confirmed after interrogation that the narcotics were theirs and had been prepared for trafficking. They were submitted to appropriate authorities for future legal action. The operation demonstrates growing security coordination between Baghdad and Kuwait City on narcotics trafficking, which has become a growing concern for Iraq as authorities seek to disrupt regional smuggling networks and prevent the country from being used as a transit route for illegal drugs.
