Iraq awarded hosting rights for 28th Gulf Cup

Jeddah: The Executive Office of the Gulf Football Federation has approved the Iraqi Football Association’s request to host the 28th edition of the Gulf Cup (Gulf 28).The decision was taken during the Executive Office’s meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, held on the sidelines of the ongoing 27th Gulf Cup and chaired by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Gulf Football Federation. Iraq’s bid was the only hosting request submitted by the member associations. The Iraqi Football Association will be required to inform the Gulf Football Federation of the host city within the specified timeframe and complete all organisational requirements in accordance with the approved regulations and standards.The federation said the decision reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation with member associations and further developing the Gulf championship system.At the meeting’s conclusion, Sheikh Hamad affirmed his continued support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
