Iran's Araghchi says Iran prepared to give diplomacy another chance

Live Blog Update| War on Iran 21 October 2026 21:17 BST Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that “Iran is prepared to give diplomacy another chance,” if it sees “strong evidence of a sincere desire by the US” to build trust towards a resolution to the conflict. Sharing an opinion piece he wrote in the Financial Times, Araghchi added in a post on X that “if US chooses war over diplomacy, it’ll certainly result in an even greater strategic failure”. Iran is prepared to give diplomacy another chance if we see strong evidence of a sincere desire by US to build trust & reach a just solution. But if US chooses war over diplomacy, it'll certainly result in an even greater strategic failure. My FT op-ed: https://t.co/T4sUq4WGwt — Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) October 21, 2026
