A State Department official noted: 'Secretary Rubio means business. 'Two more members of the Iranian delegation were found still in New York long after the UN General Assembly had passed. 'They have now been kicked out of the country,' the official stated, according to Axios.In a Sunday post on X, the Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi offered a different explanation for the departures.'All Iranian diplomats who attended UNGA, except one who departed earlier, left as scheduled,' Araghchi shared. It oozes of desperation and defeat, and is inconsistent with UN host nation obligations,' he added.Amid the US war with Iran, Americans have severely limited the ability of Iranians to be present in the country.Back in July, as the United States hosted the World Cup with Canada and Mexico, Donald Trump warned the Iranian team not to come – for their 'own life and safety', while the team moved its base from Arizona to Mexico. Nearly a dozen members of its delegation were later denied visas for the competition.On Sunday, Iran vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz shut unless the US meets its demands, with Tehran warning there is 'no military solution' to the situation.The Islamic Republic said the US needs to comply with 'seven conditions' that it set out in an agreement in June, insisting the country's position remains 'completely clear and firm'.The closure of the key strait in the Persian Gulf has led to huge spikes in global oil prices, with shortages seeing the cost of diesel rise astronomically.G7 leaders, in a bid to curb rising costs and under pressure from US President Donald Trump, agreed to release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil from their emergency reserves on Friday.Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that the strait is set to remain closed until the US agrees to its terms.He said: 'The Americans, who say something different in the media, have recently put forward proposals through a mediator.'But they must understand that the period of dragging out the process and dictating one-sided demands is over.'The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is completely clear and firm, and the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until our seven conditions, based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, are met,' he concluded.
