The two officials discussed regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral coordination and cooperation.Monday’s visit agenda includes information exchange and operational cooperation in combating terrorism and organised crime, tackling drug trafficking, border and maritime security, cybersecurity and international police cooperation.Regional developments, cooperation on border equipment and technology, consular and expatriate affairs, and educational and academic cooperation are also among the issues to be discussed.He is accompanied by Tehran Governor General Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian and Hormozgan Governor General Mohammad Ashouri Taziani. Momeni also visited Pakistan in July amid escalating U.S.-Iran tensions, meeting Pakistani officials as Islamabad pursued mediation efforts, with support from Qatar and other countries.The Doha visit follows recent high-level contacts between Qatar and Iran, including a Qatari delegation’s visit to Tehran in September, where it met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as part of efforts to reduce regional tensions.The most notable is a higher-level trip by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who travelled to Tehran on 27 August, in the first high-level visit between the two countries since the U.S.-Iran war began in February.Qatar has continued mediating between the U.S. and Iran, exchanging messages and working to bridge differences and establish common ground as efforts to end the conflict continue.
