Iran destroys nearly all US military facilities in Iraq’s Erbil

A huge blast and fire at a US airbase in Erbil International Airport on March 1, 2026. Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said that the IRGC destroyed nearly all US military installations during recent operations in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Akraminia stated Tehran was now using newer attack drones that were more accurate and sophisticated than the Arash-2, according to Anadolu Agency (AA). The Iranian official claimed that Iran has severely damaged US military outposts around the region, with many losing most of their operational capabilities. Akraminia also indicated that Iran is prepared to persist with military operations until the United States acknowledges its inability to impose its will on the nation through violent means. Akraminia claimed that anti-Iranian Kurdish resistance groups based in Erbil are also no longer able to carry out missions because of the destroyed infrastructure. Reports mentioned that, while the bases have suffered damage, allegations of complete destruction are greatly overstated.
