Iran defence spokesperson says US vote exposes failure of Trump’s war policies

Iran’s Defence Ministry spokesperson General Reza Talaeinik has portrayed the US midterm election results as further evidence that Trump and Netanyahu’s policies have failed. Writing on social media, he called it an opportunity to “revisit the crimes of global arrogance, especially America, and to renew our pledge to resist interventionism”. “Today, with the failure of Trump and Netanyahu’s warmongering policies becoming more apparent and the trend of their hegemony’s collapse in the world, the steadfastness of the Iranian nation is more than ever inspiring to free nations,” he wrote. His comments follow a warning from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei that Tehran cannot trust Washington and that changes in US political leadership will not end its hostility towards Iran.
