Iran attacks Kuwait; IRGC says inflicted 'destruction' on US facilities 20 July, 2026 Last Update20 July, 2026 16:55 PM Iran launched an attack on Kuwait, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claiming it inflicted significant destruction on US military facilities in the Gulf- as the United States expanded its strikes across the Islamic republic. Kuwait's military said on Monday it was responding to renewed missile and drone salvos, after the Gulf country reported intercepting Iranian attacks. "Kuwaiti air defences are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks," the Gulf state's army said in a statement blaming Iran, while AFP news agency confirmed hearing explosions in Kuwait City. In neighbouring Bahrain, air raid sirens also sounded, according to the island kingdom's interior ministry. Bahrain, which like Kuwait hosts US military installations, also reported intercepting Iranian attacks. Bahrain's civil aviation body said Iran had targeted its air navigation systems with drones, though traffic remained unaffected. Meanwhile, the IRGC says its navy has delivered "heavy blows" to the US military through three simultaneous attacks. In a statement carried by the IRNA news agency, the IRGC said it targeted US "drone maintenance and repair sheds" at Al-Sakhir Airport in Bahrain, claiming the strike resulted in their "destruction". It also claimed to have attacked US Navy Task Force 59 vessel preparation sheds at Salman Port in Bahrain, causing "destruction and heavy damage". In Kuwait, the IRGC said it set fire to and "completely destroyed" Marine Special Forces sheds at Camp Arifjan. The statement added that US President Donald Trump had "revealed his foolishness and ignorance" by claiming Iran had few missiles and drones remaining, asserting that even if the war were to last several years, Iran would have enough weapons "until the last day".
