(Image credit: Apple club)The first leak for the iPhone 18 Pro series' launch date is finally here. According to Forbes, Apple could announce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 12, although the company has not officially confirmed the date. There are also rumours that the premium models will debut alongside Apple's first foldable iPhone, making this one of the company's biggest launch events in years. If the fresh leaks are to be believed, Apple's next-gen iPhones are just a few weeks away from being officially introduced. The good thing is that the leaks have already painted a fairly detailed picture of what buyers can expect. The upcoming iPhones could come with a new camera system, a faster chip built on 2nm technology, bigger batteries and a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island.Interestingly, this year's launch strategy could also be different. Instead of unveiling the entire iPhone 18 lineup together, Apple is rumoured to introduce only the Pro models this September, while the standard iPhone 18 models could arrive much later in 2027. Reports suggest this could be a deliberate move to boost sales of the more expensive Pro variants during the holiday shopping season rather than a result of production delays. Meanwhile, here is a quick look at the rumoured price and specs of the upcoming iPhones.iPhone 18 Pro leaked designWhile Apple refreshed the design of the Pro lineup last year, the overall look may remain largely familiar this time. The raised rear camera module is expected to stay, but Apple could introduce fresh colour options, including dark cherry red, light blue and a darker grey finish. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also tipped to become slightly thicker and heavier, reportedly to accommodate a larger battery. Display sizes are expected to remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max. However, Apple could improve brightness and power efficiency by adopting upgraded LTPO+ display technology. Another widely discussed upgrade is a smaller Dynamic Island. Tipster Ice Universe claims the cutout could shrink by around 35 per cent as Apple moves more Face ID components beneath the display.Camera, chip, battery and expected price in IndiaThe camera could be one of the biggest highlights of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Multiple reports suggest Apple is preparing to introduce a variable-aperture main camera for the first time on an iPhone. Unlike current models with a fixed aperture, this system would be able to adjust the amount of light entering the sensor, potentially improving low-light photography, reducing overexposed outdoor shots and delivering more natural-looking portrait blur. Under the hood, the phones are expected to run on Apple's next-generation A20 chip, which is rumoured to be manufactured using TSMC's advanced 2nm process. The new chipset is expected to offer better performance while consuming less power. Apple is also tipped to introduce its in-house C2 modem, which could improve connectivity and add support for more advanced satellite-based 5G features.Battery life could also see an upgrade. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a battery of up to 5,200mAh, while the regular Pro model may receive a smaller capacity increase. Combined with the more efficient A20 processor and modem, both devices could deliver longer battery life than their predecessors. The biggest talking point, however, could be pricing. The current iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,34,999 in India, while the Pro Max starts at Rs 1,49,999. Leaks now suggest Apple could raise prices by up to Rs 20,000, with some retailers reportedly expecting an increase of as much as Rs 30,000. In the US, the next Pro models are also rumoured to become significantly more expensive (up to $200) due to rising component and manufacturing costs.Since Apple has not confirmed any of these details, the specifications, pricing and launch plans should be treated as rumours until the company makes an official announcement later this year.- EndsPublished By: Ankita GargPublished On: Jul 31, 2026 12:46 IST
