The iPhone 17 Pro is now available at a lower effective price in India, with discounts of up to Rs 16,000 across ongoing sale offers. But with the iPhone 18 Pro expected to launch soon, should you buy now or wait? The iPhone 17 Pro is available with up to Rs 16,000 discount just weeks before the launch of iPhone 18 Pro.Apple's iPhone 17 Pro has received a sizeable price cut ahead of the company's next iPhone launch, making the flagship more tempting for buyers who do not want to wait for the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple authorised online seller iNvent is currently offering the iPhone 17 Pro at a lower price as part of its Independence Day sale, with the total savings going up to Rs 13,000 when a qualifying bank offer is added. Although, Flipkart is offering up to Rs 16,000 discount to buyers, which we will talk about in a bit.The iPhone 17 Pro was launched in India at Rs 1,34,900. Under the ongoing iNvent offer, its listed price has dropped to Rs 1,27,900, giving buyers a flat Rs 7,000 discount straight away. Buyers paying through EMI using eligible Axis Bank, ICICI Bank or SBI credit cards can get another Rs 6,000 as instant cashback. That brings the effective price down to Rs 1,21,900. In other words, buyers who meet the bank-offer conditions can save Rs 13,000 compared with the original launch price. Even without the cashback, the Rs 7,000 price cut makes the iPhone 17 Pro cheaper than it was at launch. This could be useful for buyers who do not have one of the eligible cards or do not want to purchase the phone on EMI.Flipkart has a bigger discount, but conditions applyThere is another iPhone 17 Pro deal running on Flipkart as part of its Freedom Day sale. The e-commerce platform is selling the phone for Rs 1,26,900, which means an Rs 8,000 reduction from the original price. On top of that, buyers can get an additional Rs 4,000 discount using an eligible SBI credit card. Those who have a Flipkart Axis Bank and Flipkart SBI credit card will be able to avail an extra Rs 8,000 discount, taking the maximum advertised savings to Rs 16,000. If all the conditions are met, the effective price can come down to Rs 1,18,900. That makes Flipkart's offer cheaper than iNvent's deal by Rs 3,000. However, the final price depends on meeting the bank-card and sale conditions, so buyers should check the offer terms before paying. Should you buy 17 Pro now or wait for iPhone 18 Pro?The timing of these discounts is important. Apple is rumoured to announce its next-generation iPhones next month, which means the iPhone 18 Pro is now only weeks away from becoming official. Leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro may not look dramatically different from the current model, but the changes could be more significant under the hood. Rumours point to a new A20 Pro chip, improved battery efficiency, a potentially more advanced display, a smaller Dynamic Island, a variable-aperture camera and a new camera sensor. These upgrades could make the next Pro model more capable even if its exterior remains familiar. The bigger unknown is the price. If Apple increases the India price by Rs 10,000 or even Rs 20,000, the iPhone 17 Pro could look considerably more attractive, particularly if its price falls further once the new generation arrives. For someone upgrading from an iPhone 14 or iPhone 15, the iPhone 17 Pro already offers a substantial generational jump. But if you are not in a hurry, waiting for Apple's September announcement could be the smarter choice. Once the iPhone 18 Pro's official price and specifications are known, it will be easier to decide whether the newer features justify paying more or whether the discounted iPhone 17 Pro offers the better deal. There is also the possibility of Apple's long-rumoured foldable iPhone arriving in 2026. If it does, buyers should expect it to sit in a much higher price bracket, with rumours pointing to a price above Rs 2 lakh. For everyone else looking for a conventional Pro iPhone, however, the current iPhone 17 Pro discounts are worth considering.- EndsPublished By: Ankita GargPublished On: Aug 13, 2026 19:11 IST
