Apple released iOS 27 beta 5 yesterday, with changes including new app icons and Spotlight design tweaks. As it turns out, the update also includes references to all the new iPhone models expected to be released over the next six to eight months. Unreleased iPhone references As first spotted by Macworld, iOS 27 beta 5 references six unreleased iPhones spanning the entire iPhone 18 lineup, the iPhone Air 2, and the forthcoming foldable iPhone Ultra. The references were found in “system files related to the iPhone’s battery drivers and Battery Intelligence features.” The code references include only Apple’s internal identifiers (V62, V63, etc), not the marketing names. Based on other leaks, however, you can correlate those model identifiers to their expected marketing names: V62: iPhone Air 2 V63: iPhone 18 Pro V64: iPhone 18 Pro Max V67: iPhone 18 V68: iPhone Ultra (or iPhone Fold) V69: iPhone 18e The update doesn’t include any further information about these devices. Apple is expected to kick off the iPhone 18 cycle next month with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The iPhone Ultra is also expected to be announced next month. The iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are reportedly slated for sometime in early 2027. This marks the first year of Apple’s rearranged iPhone release schedule, splitting the launches into two windows over the course of the full year.
