iOS 27 beta 4 mentions new iPhone model with multi-battery feature

iOS 27 beta 4 arrived today, and per Macworld it includes code references to what’s likely a new iPhone Ultra feature: dual batteries. Macworld found code references in iOS 27 beta 4 to iPhone with multiple batteries Earlier this month, Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station revealed that Apple’s forthcoming iPhone Ultra is likely to include not one, but two separate internal batteries. This isn’t uncommon for foldable smartphones, but it would be a first for the iPhone. And today, following the release of iOS 27 beta 4, we have strong evidence corroborating the leaker’s claim. Filipe Espósito reports at Macworld that the new beta includes code strings referencing a multi-battery iPhone model. He writes: The new code strings explicitly state that they are intended for a multi-battery iPhone, alongside the existing references to single-battery iPhones (emphasis ours): “The batteries in this iPhone are performing as expected,” reads one of the strings. Another mentions that “the health of the batteries in this iPhone has significantly degraded.” We’ve seen plenty of other iOS 27 code references to the iPhone Ultra in the past. There have been code leaks revealing that a foldable iPhone is coming, and one with multiple displays. Now, add to those today’s new code that mentions an iPhone with multiple batteries. Per a regulatory filing, the two batteries will have capacities of 1,921mAh and 2,962mAh respectively, for a total of 4,883mAh. All of this supports what has previously been reported about the iPhone Ultra, which is expected to be unveiled in early September.
