Intertop Loses $10M in Goods After Russian Assault

Russian attacks on Intertop, Ukraine’s biggest fashion and footwear retailer, caused an estimated Hr.450 million ($10.8 million) in direct losses to the company’s inventory, CEO Serhii Badritdinov said in an interview published on Monday, Aug. 10.According to RAU, the destroyed warehouse held hundreds of thousands of shoes, clothing items, accessories and cosmetics, including new autumn-winter stock that had arrived shortly before the attack.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.“Some of the new goods arrived literally a day before the attack and were supposed to be distributed among the stores the next day, but unfortunately were lost,” Badritdinov said.Some products could face shortagesBadritdinov said Intertop may temporarily face shortages in some product categories as the company rebuilds its inventory.The retailer is already working with suppliers to replenish stocks and accelerate new deliveries.The company had managed to move some goods out of the warehouse before the attack by distributing inventory among its stores and smaller storage facilities.“Thanks to the team’s quick and coordinated actions, we managed to remove some of the goods from the warehouse before the attack. Unfortunately, it was physically impossible to save everything because of the critically limited time and lack of storage space on the necessary scale,” Badritdinov said.Intertop rebuilds logistics after attackIntertop’s stores, website and mobile application have continued operating despite the destruction of its main logistics complex. The company has secured temporary warehouse capacity and begun receiving new deliveries, with goods now being distributed from the temporary facility.“In the very first hours after the attack, the Intertop Ukraine team began restructuring key logistics and operational processes,” Badritdinov said.The CEO said the company has a stabilization plan in place, although the timeline for fully restoring its logistics operations remains unclear.Some store openings postponedThe attack could also affect Intertop’s expansion plans.Badritdinov said some store openings planned for the autumn would have to be postponed as the company focuses on restoring inventory and rebuilding its logistics network.The attack was part of a broader Russian overnight assault on Ukraine on Aug. 5, when the Kremlin launched 28 missiles and 115 attack drones, according to Ukrainian authorities.Other Ukrainian retailers and logistics companies, including Epicentr, Rozetka, Nova Poshta, Silpo and Novus, also reported significant losses from the attack.
