A senior official in Yemen’s Saudi-backed government said on Sunday that condemning Houthi attacks on civilians is no longer enough and the world must now turn to firm action. “It is no longer acceptable for regional and international condemnations of the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure to remain mere verbal stances, without being translated into firm measures that achieve accountability and deterrence,” the vice president of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Abdullah al-Alimi Bawazir, said in a post on X. He added that what he called “the terrorist crime” committed by the Houthis in its alleged airport attack on Saudi's capital of Riyadh “necessitates a decisive regional and international stance that goes beyond statements of denunciation to practical measures ending impunity”. Bawazir offered full solidarity with the kingdom, praising its role in protecting regional security and international navigation, and supporting the Yemeni people and their government.
