As a follow-up to the news one month ago of Intel Nova Lake P's graphics introducing a new 64-bit GPU mode, the latest driver-side enablement has now landed for Intel's Iris Gallium3D OpenGL driver for supporting efficient 64-bit addressing. The Intel ANV Vulkan driver was adapted last month for this new "efficient 64-bit" GPU mode first debuting with Nova Lake P. Now merged as of yesterday is the big patch series supporting efficient 64-bit addressing mode for the Iris Gallium3D code. Intel engineer José Roberto de Souza explained in the merge request: "This MR adds efficient 64bit addressing mode support to Iris, following the same approach used in ANV and blorp...There is still room for improvement, which I plan to address in a follow-up MRs." The merge spanned 45 patches and via DriConf allows toggling the efficient 64-bit mode coming with NVL-P. This code is merged for Mesa 26.3 due out in November. In the months ahead we'll be learning more about all of the Intel Nova Lake changes across the different products.
