Institute in Basic Life Principles wins discovery challenge

TEXARKANA, Texas — An appeals court in Texas conditionally granted mandamus relief to the Institute in Basic Life Principles, a conservative Christian organization associated with the Duggar family. The trial court must vacate its order compelling the group to answer interrogatories and requests for production in a lawsuit brought by two sisters who say the teachings of the organization and its founder Bill Gothard enabled their father and older brother to sexually abuse them.
