The massive deal, which is set to produce 50 episodes of the new show throughout the season, is just the latest step in the incredible rise of the content creator. Sign up for the Man United newsletter Thank you! Goldbridge, real name Brent Di Cesare, originally hails from Nottingham, and worked for West Midlands police as an anti-fraud detective. He founded a YouTube channel called Soccer Box TV in 2014, focusing on producing Premier League content. That channel evolved to focus on United specifically in the form of The United Stand, though the sensitive nature of his job as a detective forced Di Cesare to pick out a different name for his YouTube aspirations. He settled on Mark Goldbridge, which he insists there is no particular reason for that name and he simply came up with it on the spot. He began to build a following making watch-along content on the channel as he kept tabs on his beloved side. His frequent energetic and entertaining outbursts – particularly when United were not doing well – quickly built him a following across social media, and YouTube in particular. He built up enough of a following to launch a number of spin-off YouTube channels, where he and his collaborators expanded beyond United content alone. ‘That’s Football‘ sees Goldbridge and Co watch and discuss non-United matches, particularly in the Premier League and Champions League. Meanwhile his ‘United Stand XTRA’ and ‘Mark Goldbridge’ channels provide further coverage of his streaming and ‘In Real Life‘ content. All that attention helped him to bizarrely secure the rights to broadcast Bundesliga games in the UK last season. He has also presented his own evening talkSPORT show outside of his social media duties. And he struck a first real big-money deal earlier this year with Gary Neville‘s media brand The Overlap. That massive agreement significantly boosted his already impressive net worth. Just 12 years after starting his first YouTube channel, the Mail revealed in April that the 47-year-old had assets worth a total of £7.5m. And that number is surely set to rise as he takes up his new dream role as a co-host alongside United legend Rooney with The Overlap. Couldn’t have done it without you.” The new show will be available to Disney+ subscribers and also be uploaded to YouTube for free. It will debut on August 18th, with fireworks promised as two big personalities meet on the small screen. That agreement comes after fellow streaming giant Netflix signed Gary Lineker‘s Rest is Football brand, creating a special World Cup show that ran throughout the tournament earlier this summer.
