Inside epic NINE-WAY Formula E title fight that will be decided in London, including pair of Brits and two ex-F1 stars

THIS weekend London will play host to one of the most incredible season conclusions in motorsport. Formula E is bringing the curtain down on its 2025/26 season with a double-header of races in Excel London. Britain’s Jake Dennis is leading the standings after a double podium for Andretti in Tokyo, Japan, last time out and scoring more than half of his points this season in the second half. He is looking to become a two-time world champion, having last lifted the title in 2023. Just two points behind him is New Zealand speedster Mitch Evans, previously a two-time runner up in the Formula E championship who is looking to finally land an elusive title with Jaguar. It would be a fairytale ending for Evans, who is departing the team following a decade of service after the London races. Former F1 star and Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein sits in third, now five points off the title after leading the championship earlier in the season. Another Briton in the mix is Oliver Rowland, the defending Formula E champion and a personal mentor to F1 star Arvid Lindblad, who is fourth in the standings – 14 points behind compatriot Dennis. Those are the four drivers who could realistically win the championship. However, mathematically, there are another FIVE who are not out of contention. Like in F1, 25 points are handed out to the race winner, before eight bonus points are awarded too. The race pole-sitter gets three points, and there is a bonus for fastest lap if they finish in the top 10. Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara leads the outsiders down from 2020 winner Antonio Felix da Costa, two-time runner-up Nick Cassidy, one-time race winner Nico Muller and ex-F1 star Nyck De Vries. A grand total of 22 points cover the group, ranging from 2021 series runner-up Mortara on 116 points, all the way down to team-mate and ex-F1 driver Nyck de Vries on 94. Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds said whoever races away with the title would have an “incredible story” behind them. Talking about the title and the closeness of the top four, Evans, 32, said: “Considering how close it is between the four of us, it’s almost like a reset. “There’s nothing in it, so it’s almost like a two-race shootout. That’s how I can kind of see it.” Dennis, 31, ironically following his late arrival to the drivers press conference, added: “It’s kind of a clean slate coming into this weekend. When we all put our helmets on, we’re all there to try and deliver the absolute best. “And at least where my mindset is, is as long as I can get out of the car and say I didn’t make a mistake, or I gave it my absolute everything and didn’t win, then I can go into the off-season in a pretty good mindset. “Winning it before is amazing, but come Sunday, the only thing I would say is me and Pascal have experienced the thrills of it, and if Mitch gets that, then he’s a deserving champion.” “And, there’s no one more, I think, more deserving than Mitch after coming close so many years.
