On September 16, following the AD PRO Design Dialogues summit in New York, attendees were invited to the new Andrée Putman Studio showroom for a festive sunset-hour cocktail party.Tucked inside an elegant New York penthouse on Bowery, the showroom, which spans three floors and two rooftop terraces, captures the late French designer’s lasting influence—and the legacy brand’s exciting next chapter led by Putman’s daughter, Olivia, and CEO Aurélie Laure. “Ralph Pucci said that Andrée Putman taught him that elegance is discipline, that modernity must have integrity, and that true luxury is restraint. I think it’s a good summary of the values we have to carry on,” shared Laure on the summit stage earlier in the day. “More than doing a pastiche, we need to think of it as an alphabet and still have some creativity today to write our own words.”AD Global Editorial Director Amy Astley and Andrée Putman CEO Aurélie Laure Andrée Putman Studio unveiled its New York showroom in May. The summit drew AD PRO members from Phoenix, Chicago, Miami, and beyond. Guests including Jean-Gabriel Neukomm (JG Neukomm Architecture), Michael K. Chen (MKCA), and Theresa Ory (Theresa Ory Interiors) mingled, explored, and admired the residential gallery's impressive space, where re-editions of Putman’s iconic furniture sit alongside new studio creations, creating a compelling dialogue between past and present.Jean-Gabriel Neukomm (JG Neukomm Architecture), Michael K. Inspired by Putman’s iconic checkerboard tile bath at the Morgans Hotel in New York, chef Noot Seear devised a black-and-white menu of French crudite cups topped with caviar, mini blackberry pavlovas, and coconut and coffee boba jelly squares–all presented on the studio’s Vertigo serveware for Christofle. After a day forging new connections at AD PRO Design Dialogues, the good times continued at Andrée Putman Studio. The gallery's Bowery location is a nod to Putman's former New York stomping grounds. “One of the core values of Andrée Putman was dialogue. She never saw design as an isolated discipline,” said Laure, referencing the designer’s friendships with artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Andy Warhol. To be relevant, she added, is to keep a dialogue with the contemporary creative scene. “You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with,” she said.Is Your Business Ready for the AI Era?
