Arizona head coach Brent Brennan confirmed on Monday that wide receiver Tre Spivey is out for the season after suffering a broken foot in the win over Cincinnati. “Those situations are so difficult,” Brennan said. “We were both crying in the X-ray room at halftime. We love Tre and he’s been such an awesome addition since he came over here a couple of years ago. “He’s obviously an important part to what we do offensively. We want to support him every way we can. It’s really that simple. He’s one of us, he is our brother. How can we support him on his new journey and help him get everything he needs in his process because those things are hard.” “I thought they did a great job,” Brennan said. “The biggest thing that showed up to me was how they blocked. You see Isaiah Mizell run in there and crack a safety and block on the perimeter the way they did. RJ had some great blocking. You don’t run the football like that without the receivers doing a great job down the field. It just doesn’t happen. I thought they responded great.” Who’s up next for Arizona? There’s a possibility that Richardson and Hunter miss Saturday’s game against West Virginia, which would give other receivers a chance to emerge. “There’s been a lot of conversation with you all about RJ and I think RJ Mosley is one of those guys,” Brennan said. “Jet has started to push into that picture more and make plays for us, so I’m excited to see him. “We’ve talked about this a lot, about the depth of that room and what they all bring to the table. I think this is a great opportunity for a few of them to step up and really find a way to contribute positively.” Arizona’s approach to running the ball isn’t going to change as far as dividing the carries and trying to find the hot hand. “Those guys do a great job of really supporting each other and really being excited for each other’s success, which you need on any good football team,” Brennan said. “That’s a critical component of guys not being selfish and guys really supporting the other guys in the room. “All those guys really ran well on Saturday night. Antwan has been a great addition to us. I think he’s going to continue to make plays as I think Ked will and Quincy. Those guys are important guys to us and they play a ton of football for us. They’re involved in special teams, great pass protectors.”
