Police said the initials relate to a Pure Third Command, a criminal faction originating in Rio de Janeiro, but they have not confirmed if the group is responsible for the execution. Officers were called at around 3.30am after residents reported hearing several gunshots. Evelyn’s body was found on the pavement covered with a sheet when police arrived. Her father was reportedly washing the area and was told to stop so the crime scene could be preserved. Evelyn was at the centre of a police investigation that linked her to organised crime. She had been provisionally released just days earlier, on September 9, in connection with the killing of retired sergeant Antonio Anildo Alves da Silva, 56. Police suspected Evelyn of plotting the attack and had been holding her in preventive detention. She had also previously been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking for the gang, they said. Evelyn had more than 24,000 followers on social media, where she posted photographs and videos of trips, glam looks and her daily life with family and friends. Her profile was deactivated on Wednesday. Police said no suspects had been arrested in connection with her killing by Wednesday night. Investigators are now examining CCTV footage showing the vehicle used by the attackers. The Civil Police said: “Forensic examinations have been requested and witnesses are being heard to assist the investigation. “Police are carrying out searches to identify and locate those responsible and establish the motive for the crime.” Investigators have not said whether Evelyn’s killing was connected to the murder of the retired sergeant.
