As awesome as Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei have been, it's no secret that PlayStation fans have been clamoring for Sucker Punch to return to either Sly Cooper or inFamous. Thankfully, the Sly Cooper trilogy is available on modern hardware, but the same can't be said for inFamous, whose first two games are still stranded on the PlayStation 3. Well, it appears that the longstanding wish might be granted in some form, as according to one analyst, something inFamous related is happening somewhere at PlayStation. In a new episode of VideoGamesChronicle's podcast, Jordan Middler, reported rumblings that inFamous is happening. "There is a groundswell of people that want inFamous," Middler said. "I'm under the impression that there is an inFamous thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute, not tied to them (Sucker Punch)." What that "thing" could be is anyone's guess. As mentioned up top, neither the first inFamous nor its sequel inFamous 2 and DLC "Festival of Blood" are available on modern hardware. The last inFamous title was Second Son, a launch game for the PlayStation 4 that received one piece of DLC, "First Light." Related That said, the inFamous world is rich enough that if Sucker Punch or another studio wanted to go forward instead of backward, that would be totally plausible. Even Without New Entries, Sucker Punch Has Never Lost Love For Its Earlier Franchises Despite not having dropped a new inFamous title since 2014 and Sly Cooper since 2005, Sucker Punch has included numerous references to the two franchises in its "Ghost of" series, including outfits and Easter Eggs. Hope for a return to either franchise kicked up following the release of Ghost of Yotei, when director Nate Fox shared that he'd love to return to the world of inFamous. "I would love to work on more Infamous," Fox said. "I would love to see a trilogy re-release, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yōtei." Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming also mentioned a return to Sly in a separate interview, but like Fox, he was quick to point out that this current version of Sucker Punch is a one-game studio. "If we were good at juggling four projects, yeah, we’d have a remaster, and let’s go do one of those, and one of those, and do some fan request, that would be really popular," Fleming said. However, as Middler noted, that inFamous-related project is not tied to Sucker Punch. That could mean that someone had a pitch good enough that Sucker Punch was OK with letting the franchise be worked on by someone other than them. That's not unusual, as prior to its shutdown, Bluepoint made several pitches to Sony executives regarding some of its most popular IPs, including Shadow of the Colossus, Bloodborne and even something related to Sucker Punch's own Ghost of Tsushima. Whatever the case may be, it looks like some form of hope is back on the menu for patient inFamous fans, though only time will tell what that "thing" is and whether it's the kind of thing fans have been waiting for.
