Indiana lands massive commitment with 5-star Monshun Sales — No. 7 player in 2027 class

The Indiana football program has landed a massive commitment with five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales from Lawrence North (Ind.). He announced his commitment on the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN. Sales is the No. 2 receiver in the 2027 class and the No. 7 player in the Rivals Industry Rankings. Sales is the highest-rated commit in Indiana program history. The Hoosiers beat out Alabama, Texas, Ohio State and LSU among others for Sales. Sales visited Indiana multiple times throughout his recruitment and took his first official visit of the cycle to Indiana in April. After a few weeks, it was evident that Indiana grabbed the momentum. Despite efforts from Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and Texas, in that order, neither program was able to overcome Indiana’s efforts. Sales is a 6-foot-5 and 205-pound receiver who is a plug and play prospect at the next level. He finished his junior year with 37 receptions for 794 yards and nine touchdowns in 10 games. Indiana’s development and success with former Lawrence North players Omar Cooper and Davion Chandler was notable in the recruitment of Sales — all three being receivers. A few parts of Indiana’s program stood out to sales throughout the recruiting process, especially this spring. “It just really felt like a family,” he said of official visit in April. “Everybody made me feel like I was at home, and they wanted me to be there. It’s really just how they approach everything. They approach everything the same way. They don’t approach nothing easy. They try to go get everything, and it starts with the head coach and the receiver coaches and all the coaches that’s in the organization. “I think it’s the coaching and preparation. Being at Indiana you will learn so much and become a smarter player and person.” Rivals scout Charles Power’s scouting report on Sales: “High upside wide receiver prospect with an elite combination of size and speed. Checks in at around 6-foot-4.5, 205 pounds with 32.25-inch arms and 9-inch hands. Posts excellent marks on the track, especially at his size, running 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.4 seconds in the 200 meters. A vapor trail on vertical routes. Has the potential to take the top off of defenses with regularity. Shows quality tracking skills, locating the football over his shoulder. Competitive as a blocker and physical while working as a safety. Finished his junior season with 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns. Still adding nuance to his game as a route-runner. Would like to see him continue to add to his catch radius and become more of a mismatch in contested catch situations given his size.
