She said that whether she was at the beach wearing a bikini or lying in a park to sunbathe, she could simply exist in public without feeling conscious of herself. She said that sense of freedom was something she had become so used to that she no longer missed having to deal with unwanted attention. Her second point was people showing up at someone’s house without calling first. She contrasted it with life in Canada, where people would ask if she was free on a particular day, suggest a time to visit and then actually arrive at the agreed time. She then mentioned personal space and queues, saying the difference was particularly noticeable in everyday situations. The fourth thing on her list was honking, although she admitted this one was slightly ironic. She recalled that after moving to Canada, she had actually missed the familiar sound of Indian traffic so much that she once went down to the parking area of her apartment, sat inside her car and honked for absolutely no reason, simply because she wanted to hear it.Her fifth point was lane driving. She pointed out the marked lanes on Canadian roads and explained how drivers generally stayed within them and changed lanes in a more organised manner.Despite listing the things she did not miss, Parinoor Kooner stressed that she loved her country and India still felt like home to her.“I love my country. I love India. I sometimes miss being there,” she said, before adding that these were simply the things she did not miss.In the caption, she further explained that moving abroad had not suddenly given her a “better” life, but had instead given her a different perspective. Being away from home, she said, had made her notice cultural quirks and habits that she had once considered completely normal. She also admitted that some of those habits were so deeply ingrained that she occasionally missed them, including the honking.Watch the video here:Her candid take found plenty of agreement in the comments. One person called it a “very true” observation, while another praised her for telling a “beautiful truth”. Someone else said they had also been happily living in Africa for the past 20 years.Another user, however, focused on safety and said they felt life abroad was “definitely safer than India too."- EndsPublished By: Yashna TalwarPublished On: Sep 2, 2026 16:56 IST
