Indian AI company orders 9,000 Nvidia chips to power massive AI factory in Hyderabad

While companies like Sarvam are already working towards that vision, one Indian company is now taking a much bigger bet on the infrastructure needed to power the next generation of AI. According to a Bloomberg report, AM Intelligence has placed a binding order for about 9,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin systems, making it one of the earliest adopters of Nvidia’s latest AI computing platform in Asia.AM Intelligence is an AI infrastructure company backed by the founders of renewable energy producer Greenko Group. It plans to deploy the Nvidia systems at its first AI data centre in Hyderabad. The servers are expected to come online next year and will be the first part of the company's planned 1GW compute-as-a-service platform, spanning India, the US, Finland and Malaysia.According to Bloomberg, the Hyderabad facility is designed to support some of the most demanding AI workloads, including trillion-parameter models and next-generation agentic AI applications. The company plans to initially bring 200MW of AI compute capacity to market as part of a broader project involving more than $8 billion in capital expenditure.The Hyderabad facility will reportedly serve as a major cloud-service provider, AI labs and organisations working on Indian AI models. The initial capacity has reportedly already been purchased by a US customer, although the buyer has not been disclosed. The company plans to offer computing capacity to customers in India, the US, Finland and Malaysia, with India's undersea cable connectivity allowing US companies to access AI compute in India with latency of around 300 milliseconds.Energy is another part of AM Intelligence's plan. The company has access to Greenko's renewable-energy infrastructure, which it says can help keep AI computing costs competitive. “In global token economics, energy prices play a huge part,” Mahesh Kolli, founder and president of Greenko was quoted by Bloomberg as saying. The company also claims to be among the lowest-cost AI computation infrastructure players globally.Beyond the Hyderabad facility, AM Intelligence plans to expand its AI data-centre capacity to 5GW by 2030 across India, Europe and other markets.
