A BRAZILIAN club was left feeling sick as a parrot … after one of the feathered creatures attacked their players during a cup-tie defeat. But it returned a quarter of an hour later, perching on the pitch and leading to another holdup in play. Flamengo overcame the attack to soar into a 1-0 lead – only for Ceara to eventually rule the roost with goals from Andre Luis and Kayck Para. Ceara held on to secure a 2-1 win, but Flamengo might feel aggrieved after the unusual disturbance. The unexpected visitor was a blue and yellow macaw, a species that are commonly sighted in South America. The Rio club could now be tempted into joining the chase for ex-Tottenham striker Troy Parrott. The Republic of Ireland international is wanted by Fulham and West Ham following two impressive seasons with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. In February, a seagull was accidentally knocked out of the sky during an amateur game in Turkey. Istanbul Yurdum were playing a promotion-deciding game against rivals Mevlanakapi Guzelhisar when the bird was hit during a defensive free kick. The seagull immediately dropped to the ground as players rushed over to its aid. Istanbul Yurdum captain Gani Catan was the first to check on the bird and immediately started performing CPR. He was later seen picking it up and carrying it onto the sidelines for further treatment. Comment now
