In Honor of ‘Lost Weekend,’ the Time Has Come to Review Phoebe Bridgers’ Relationship History

It’s been six years since Phoebe Bridgers released her last solo album Punisher and three years since she released The Record with boygenius, soooo the fact that we’re finally getting new Phoebe music this month is kind of a big deal. Lost Weekend drops on August 14, and (according to Fader) the album covers everything from losing her father to ending her engagement with Paul Mescal. Oh, I need this album expeditiously...It’s been a minute since we’ve heard new music from Phoebe, but it’s also been a while since we’ve heard from her, period. Save for her no-phones MSG show in June and her back-to-back appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July, Phoebe has kept a very low profile ever since her 2022 split from Paul, which means veeeery little is known about her current romance with Bo Burnham. Back in 2021, Sound Space recording studio owner Chris Nelson filed a lawsuit, alleging that Phoebe accused him on Instagram of “racially motivated hate crimes,” as well as fraud and theft. As part of the lawsuit, it was revealed that Chris and his then-girlfriend Emily Bannon reportedly “began having consensual sexual encounters” with Phoebe in 2018.Chris also claimed that he broke up with Emily around fall 2019, after which she and Phoebe continued their relationship. To say fans were baffled would be...an understatement!In January 2023, the maybe-couple was snapped walking through LAX airport together, and a few months after that in May, they hit up Taylor Swift’s Philly stop on the Eras Tour, where they tried to be discreet in the VIP tent (but failed, thanks to a TikTok shared by Keith Urban).They popped up a year later for a few Grammy events in February 2024, and in August 2024, the maybe-couple was spotted again, this time smooching in Disneyland.The two have kept their ’ship quiet ever since—though Bo is credited for the first single, “Lost Boys,” off her upcoming album, so chances are the couple is still going strong.
