(Photo: Instagram)New Delhi,Oct 12, 2026 13:40 ISTActor Imran Khan has been back in the headlines after being detained during a protest in Mumbai in support of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on October 10. As videos of his detention and subsequent release circulated online, an older social media post by the Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na actor offers a glimpse into what he was doing away from the film sets during his years out of the spotlight. In June 2024, Imran shared photographs of a house he had been working on over several years. The project was more than a change of address. He had taken on the challenge of designing a home that worked with its natural surroundings, documenting the process in a detailed Instagram post.“So... one of the things I did over the past few years was to build a house,” he wrote, adding that although he had played an architect in films, he had no formal training or expertise in the field. What he did have, he explained, was an interest in experimenting and learning new things.Imran Khan's house was designed around natureThe location was central to the design. Imran described the site as uneven, flanked by two seasonal streams, backed against the base of a cliff and facing the sunset. Rather than imposing a design on the land, he wanted the landscape to determine how the house would take shape. “The intention was not to build a lavish vacation villa, rather to make something that takes its cues from the landscape,” he wrote. “The house isn't meant to be the view, it's a shelter from which to admire the view.” Away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. (Photo: Instagram) The actor said he spent the first year visiting the site at different times to observe the sunrise and sunset, the streams during the rains and the foliage as the seasons changed. Those observations helped him revisit and refine his sketches before moving ahead with the construction. He opted for a traditional construction methodImran also shared some of the practical decisions behind the project. After consulting his contractor and a structural engineer, he decided against a conventional concrete-slab structure. Instead, he opted for a method inspired by houses in the surrounding villages. The bedroom view is to die for. (Photo: Instagram) The construction involved a stone plinth for the base, single-storey brick walls, steel roof beams and prefabricated insulated roofing sheets. Photographs shared by the actor showed the site at different stages, alongside glimpses of the finished spaces nestled amid greenery. The incredible view. (Photo: Instagram) He did not present the house as a polished architectural showpiece. Instead, he acknowledged that the process had taken time and that the result was “a bit uneven around the edges”, while describing the experience as joyful.Imran Khan is a man of many talents now, so it seems!- Ends
