Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, has been lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since 2023 and is serving a 14-year sentence in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.Noreen Niazi met Khan for the first time this year, Dawn reported. The meeting came after the apex court earlier ordered the government to shift Khan to Shifa International Hospital within two days for medical treatment and keep him there till September 16, when it will again hear petitions seeking his treatment at a private hospital.Dawn, quoting jail sources, said Khan and Niazi met in the jail’s conference room and discussed his health and other issues. She also informed him about the Supreme Court’s order on his medical check-up, the report said.No further details of the meeting were issued. The Supreme Court had said in its order that if the meeting was used for political purposes, the relief granted to Khan would be withdrawn. Khan’s other sisters, including Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, and his cousin Qasim Zaman were not allowed to meet him. Political leaders from his party were also barred from the meeting. Khan, 73, is the only brother among four sisters, who have been campaigning for his release from jail. Separately, his jailed wife Bushra Bibi also met her family on Tuesday in a conference room inside the jail. Her 40-minute meeting was with her children, Musa and Mubashara Maneka, and her sister-in-law Mehrunnisa. The children are from her first marriage, which ended in divorce, after which she married Khan. Overall, Tuesday’s developments followed the court’s directions on Khan’s family access and medical treatment. With PTI Inputs - EndsPublished By: India Today Web Desk Published On: Aug 18, 2026 22:32 IST
