The platform also assured the court that it had not acted on the requests and would not take down the organisations’ accounts.“We did not act on it. Notices are not sent by the Delhi Police. We have filed a complaint with the Delhi Police last night to find the imposter,” X’s counsel submitted. The court was hearing petitions filed by IFF and SFLC challenging purported communications from the Delhi Police’s Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), which allegedly directed X to remove or withhold certain posts within three hours and block the organisations’ accounts. The petitions stated that the communications, dated October 31 and November 2, concerned posts allegedly defamatory of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).SFLC claimed it had attempted to verify the notices with both X and the Delhi Police, but emails sent to the addresses mentioned in the communications were returned as undelivered. It also approached the Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit but received no clarification. The High Court closed the proceedings after X’s statement that the notices were fraudulent and that no action would be taken against the petitioners.
