Tamil Nadu minister Keerthana has hit back at social media users questioning the gold jewellery she wore during a recent visit to the Tirupati temple, saying she would not allow criticism to undermine her confidence or deter her from her work. The controversy erupted after pictures of Keerthana's temple visit circulated on social media. Some users compared her jewellery with the assets declared in her election affidavit, claiming she had disclosed owning only three sovereigns of gold but appeared to be wearing nearly 10 sovereigns during the visit.'YOU CANNOT DIM A WOMAN WHO KNOWS WHY SHE STARTED'Responding to the criticism, Keerthana took to social media and alleged that her words, actions and personal choices were being subjected to excessive scrutiny."I'm just a girl. And perhaps that's why they feel entitled to dissect my every word, question my every move, and put my worth under a microscope," she wrote. Taking a swipe at her critics, the minister said even the gold she wore was being scrutinised alongside her speeches, but maintained that such criticism would not shake her resolve."But let them. You can dissect my words, question my worth, and scrutinise my every move. But you cannot dim a woman who knows why she started," she said.KEERTHANA THANKS VIJAY FOR SUPPORT The TVK minister also credited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and party leader Vijay for standing by her, while thanking people who continued to support her."I stand tall with the support of Hon'ble Chief Minister Vijay Anna and the love of the people who believe in me. I don't need to prove my worth to every critic. Time will do that," she wrote.Concluding her post, Keerthana said she had nothing to hide and used the analogy of gold undergoing testing to respond to the scrutiny surrounding her jewellery."Gold doesn't fear the laboratory. It has nothing to hide. And neither do I," she said.- Ends
