AN interior designer has opened up about the colors homeowners should never paint their bathrooms. Laurin White said she learned the mistake the hard way after giving her own master bath a moody makeover. Sign up for the Fabulous newsletter Thank you! “But I have learned after living in it for six years that it’s really hard to feel like it’s very clean.” White puts makeup on every morning, and she said darker colors like charcoal gray and dark blue can make your routine more difficult. “It’s really hard to apply makeup because it’s just too dark,” she admitted. “And so I would just say totally play up a moody, smoky room color, maybe in a half bath or in a little bar area, or even in your kitchen in some cases, but you just need to be careful about how you’re actually going to use the space.” Keeping the bathroom lighter, brighter, and cleaner can help with the functionality of the space and make it feel more hygienic. “I’ve learned from my own trial run that if it’s a bathroom that you use all the time, you will regret it being too dark,” she said.
