IIT Delhi student dies after jumping from campus building, no suicide note found

A 31-year-old IIT Delhi MSc Physics student died after falling from the Lecture Hall Complex on Saturday morning. Police said no suicide note was recovered and the reason behind the extreme step is being ascertained.Police said they received a call at around 8.33 am on August 22 about a student having jumped from a building on the IIT Delhi campus. Officers from police station rushed to the spot, following which the injured student was taken to the IIT Delhi campus hospital. He was declared brought dead.According to the police, the student had entered the IIT Delhi campus through the main gate at around 8 am. He then went to the Lecture Hall Complex, took a lift to the sixth floor and allegedly jumped from the front side of the building.The deceased was a second-year MSc Physics student and a resident of Bihar. NO SUICIDE NOTE FOUNDCrime and Forensic Science Laboratory teams inspected the spot and collected evidence. Police said no apparent injury marks, apart from those attributable to the fall, were found on the body.No suicide note was recovered from the spot. A mobile phone found in the student's pocket has been seized and will be examined as part of the investigation.STUDENT WAS UNDERGOING TREATMENT According to sources, the student had been undergoing treatment for mental health issues and had been staying outside the campus with his mother during this period. He was reportedly admitted to VIMHANS Hospital for treatment.Police are also obtaining counselling records and other relevant information from IIT Delhi as part of the investigation.
