Idris shows an unexpected new side in Coronation Street as Sam finds an ally

Idris is an unexpected confidate for young Sam. (Picture: ITV) It shouldn’t be controversial at this point to say that Coronation Street newcomer Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) is a baddie. From the moment he parked his flash car on the Cobbles, it was clear that this fella was just too good to be true. While he was chucking rude customers out of Speed Dahl one minute, he was menacing money out of a stranger called Damo the next. Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) may have fallen for the bad boy’s charms, but only because she didn’t notice him flirting with Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford). But she did have something to say about Idris exhibiting controlling behaviour when he cancelled a call on Leanne’s phone from her sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor), which was a giant red flag. Leanne’s fallen head over heels for bad boy Idris. (Picture: ITV) Unfortunately, this was just the tip of the villainous iceberg. Because it turns out our Idris might just be a slumlord. The newcomer is persona non grata in Weatherfield right now, after his failure to address the growing black mould in the flat of his tenant, Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine), resulted in her son Alfie becoming seriously ill. Idris’ negligence put the Webster’s youngest lad Alfie in hospital… (Picture: ITV) … And the Websters were not happy with Idris. Desperate to avoid the laws, Idris recruited his criminal protege Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) to fix the problem – namely, by threatening the lawyer Abi hired, Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) to scare the lawyer off the case. Which perhaps might have been a smart move if Adam wasn’t dating Idris’ cousin Alya Nazir (Sair Khan). Needless to say, Idris is no angel. And judging by the latest Corrie spoilers, he’s not only going to get worse, but bring out Leanne’s dark side as well. Don’t you dare, Idris. Poor Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) has been throughenough. It’s bad enough that Leanne’s adoptive son was tormented to the brink of his sanity by paedeophile Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) in a desperate attempt to scare the schoolboy into silence about grooming Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale. But the terrifying ordeal triggered a psychotic break for poor Sam, causing him to hallucinate an evil version of Roy Cropper ordering him to do unspeakable things. Sam hallucinated two Roys. (Picture: ITV) Needless to say, after seeing a scary version of Roy on a bench warning him to trust nobody, Sam has some trauma when it comes to taking advice from men on benches. But this time, Sam’s confidante is quite real, and as unlikely as it seems… Idris. Idris proves an unlikely ally. (Picture: ITV) In upcoming scenes of Coronation Street, Sam suffers a heartbreaking rejection as a result of his mental illness. Fortunately, Idris is there for him when nobody else is, and displaying a newfound sensitive side. When David (Jack P Shepherd) won’t let him hold Harper, Sam is upset and ends up confiding in Idris about his worry that David thinks he’s mentally unstable and doesn’t trust him. To Sam’s surprise, Idris opens up about his own anxieties as a teen and how he overcame them. When Sam’s dad Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), and Toyah arrive, Sam assures them that after a chat with Idris he feels much better. While it’s nice to see Idris being nice for once, Nick isn’t likely to feel the same way.Ben Price recently spoke to Metro about Nick’s feelings in regards to the charismatic newcomer developing a bond with his lad: ‘I think he finds it very difficult. ‘Idris has come in, you will see Sam opening up to him, or that’s potentially on the cards, and I think Nick then feels quite lost, and then also gets angry and a bit protective.’ Deals of the Day Wuka launches the UK’s first period-proof swimwear for heavy flows Bridgerton fans are rushing to buy these new Netflix-inspired perfumes now £12 off The affordable summer wardrobe update you'll wear from rooftop drinks to beach holidays The £7.99 lip balm beauty fans love for glossy, hydrated lips just dropped four new shades This Keskine hydrogel mask could fix your summer skin Arrow MORE: Coronation Street spoiler videos confirm unexpected proposal as blast from the past enters Arrow MORE: Parent’s worst nightmare for Abi in Coronation Street as Alfie faces serious illness Arrow MORE: Sam utterly terrified in Coronation Street as he makes a discovery about Megan The Soaps Newsletter – Weekly Sign up for exclusive spoilers and interviews, handpicked by our Soaps Editor.
