Idris plays vicious games with Carla on Coronation Street – and he’s winning

Idris has triumphed over Carl. (Picture: Shutterstock/ Metro/ Getty) Dirty rotten scoundrel Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) has done the unthinkable in Coronation Street – he’s brought down Carla Connor-Swain (Alison King). The unscrupulous businessman has been busy snatching up property on the Cobbles left and right to add to his shady empire. With the aid of his increasingly ruthless girlfriend Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and his teenage minion Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey), Idris has been resorting to dirty tricks to buy everything at a steal. His latest target? The Underworld, and its Queen, Carla Cannor-Swain. Idris wants that iconic knicker factory bad. When charm and charisma failed to work on the boss, he resorted to foul play – sabotaging a business meeting that could save Underworld. Crafty Idris scuppered Carla’s business meeting. (Picture: ITV) The first blow came in Tuesday’s episode, when Carla realised that she couldn’t afford to give her staff a Christmas bonus this year. She bemoaned her money troubles to Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers), completely unaware that Idris was eavesdropping. Sensing victory in his grasp, Idris got his little winged monkey Brody to do his bidding, sneak into the factory and set off the sprinkler system. Cue Carla and Lisa, rushing into a water-logged factory. It’s all over for Underworld. Now with Carla on the cusp of losing everything, Idris is merely waiting for the right moment to swoop in and make Carla an offer that she literally can’t refuse – selling the factory for peanuts. Brody was integral to Idris’ sabotage plans. (Picture: ITV) Because his beloved foster-mum Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) is Carla’s employee, that gives Brody a reason to care about the factory’s closure – which makes him a potential threat to Idris’ plans in upcoming Corrie episodes. Having shown the loss adjuster around the factory, Carla tells Lisa that she doubts they’ll pay out. Brody watches in disgust as Idris heads over and pretends to be sympathetic. Having received an email from Carla informing them that she’s selling the factory, Sally and Sean are gutted. Brody calls at the pub to find Sally in tears. Idris’ sabotage may cost Carla her livelihood – and her employees their job. (Picture: ITV) Brody confronts a furious Idris and threatens to tell Carla what he did. Will Idris be intimidated In the café, Carla tells Sean that nobody is more upset about the factory than she is and the last thing she wants is to lay everyone off but she has no choice. Idris comes over to feign sympathy. In the Rovers, Idris corners Brody and assures him that once the factory is his, the workers will get their jobs back and on better money.
