The NLT secured a 50-year lease during Trump’s first term to operate the three public courses in DC. These include East Potomac, Langston Golf Course, and Rock Creek Park Golf Club. Following months of legal wrangling, the two sides finally settled over the weekend. The three courses will remain under the NLT’s jurisdiction, with Trump free to begin work at East Potomac, per Golf Digest. “We are pleased that Washington DC’s municipal golf courses will remain open, accessible, and affordable for the residents and communities that depend on them,” the NLT said in a statement. “National Links Trust will continue operating all three courses, and we are committed to building on the progress we have made over the past five years. “We are grateful that our talented and dedicated employees can now look forward with certainty about the future.” Most read in Sport A federal judge ruled “the administration could proceed with maintenance at East Potomac,” according to the outlet. But they can not shut down the course or overhaul it without proper notice. Renders released by Secretary Doug Burgum show the revised layout and Trump’s vision for the course. The plans show an ambitious 18-hole course that stretches over 7,000 feet from both ends. Currently, the park has two nine-hole courses and an 18-hole course. Established in 1923, it features stunning views of Washington DC and the Potomac River. The redesign will be led by renowned architect Tom Fazio, who has worked on four of Trump’s previous courses. “Excited to unveil the design for the East Potomac Golf Links renovation from Fazio Design,” wrote Burgum on X. “Like iconic public courses of Bethpage Black & Torrey Pines, East Potomac will offer locals – of the National Capital Region- championship-quality golf at affordable, highly discounted rates.” “This is awesome (from someone who actually plays and practices here),” replied one golfer to the post. “This is amazing @SecretaryBurgum ! Excited to see this happen, but please protect the bike lanes,” wrote another. Comment now
