Iconic British fashion chain to disappear from the high street and close ALL its stores ‘by the end of this month’

AN iconic fashion brand is set to disappear from the high street and close all of its stores by the end of the month. It comes amid a tricky time for Britain’s retail scene. At the time, the group said it would “pursue an asset-light model to unlock the full potential of the brand”. The brand’s website will close at midnight tonight, Wednesday, August 19. It’s launched a 70% clearance sale to help shift stock before it goes. Fashionistas can score a £159 handbag for £39 as the retailer ramps up reductions one final time. It also operates from two stores, located in Covent Garden, London, and Glasgow, Scotland, which are due to close down at the end of the month, according to a report in Retail Week. A separate report in Drapers said the stores, alongside its 19 concessions, are expected to trade until September before closing for good. Most read in Money It comes as just last week, Harvey Nichols was rescued from the brink of collapse by Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group, taking occupation of its six major stores including its newly-refurbished Knightsbridge venue. Earlier this year, Claire’s Accessories collapsed into administration, closing all 154 of its standalone sites in April. Peter Alexander, the posh sleepwear brand, is also closing all UK stores after citing difficult trading conditions. But in better news, Karen Millen has returned to the high street after a near seven- year hiatus. The fashion brand, which has been sported by Princess Kate, shut all its remaining stores after it was bought by Boohoo after it collapsed back in 2019. The Sun has approached Gordon Brothers for comment. Comment now
