ICF-Chennai gets order for 51 rakes for Bengaluru suburban rail project from K-RIDE

The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the manufacture and supply of 51 rakes comprising three-car trainsets.The MoU was signed at ICF in Chennai on September 1 in the presence of K-RIDE/Bi-RIDE Managing Director Lakshman Singh, and ICF General Manager Manish Agarwal.The work order covers the design, manufacture, inspection, testing, and commissioning of the coaches. It also includes obtaining statutory approvals from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), system integration, and compliance with Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) requirements.According to officials, the procurement of rolling stock is an important component of the project, which aims to establish an efficient suburban rail network connecting Bengaluru with surrounding areas.Mr Singh said, “The MoU marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the project.
