I woke up in my date’s bed in a pool of my own wee

The mattress was sodden (Picture: Getty Images/Image Source) I was having the most amazing dream. I was sitting on a toilet and peeing. Emptying my bladder had never felt so good. Then I woke up and realised it hadn’t been all in my mind. Even worse, I was in my date’s bed and the mattress was sodden. Safe to say, I’ll never forget that night. I’d met Christian about a month previously, when I was browsing a clothing store with a friend. Christian approached us, and we started chatting. At the time, I was thrilled— I wasn’t used to getting attention from men — but thinking about it now, I wish I’d ignored him. I wish I’d looked the other way when he gestured at our uniforms and asked if we were nurses. Instead, I nodded. He came closer and started to make small talk. I giggled my responses while my friend slunk over to another shelf to let us be. His attention was intoxicating (Picture: Getty Images/Westend61) About 15 minutes later, my friend and I left the store, a grin on my face — because Christian had taken my number. Christian was older and less refined than my usual type, but I was too excited to think about it. I hadn’t had any notice from a man in over a year, so his attention was intoxicating. Our phone calls were always punctuated with him yelling at his neighbours, demanding they kept their kids away from his car. He’d promise to visit my place or keep me company during my night shifts, but he never did. His favourite topic to talk about was how much he loved his ex. Once, he snapped his fingers at me in a restaurant in a condensing manner. I dropped my head, unable to look at the waiter. Our phone calls were always punctuated with him yelling at his neighbours (Picture: Getty Images) But despite all this, we had great chemistry. We couldn’t get enough of locking lips. I didn’t know what I wanted from him, actually. I had been so lonely for companionship, I was just excited that someone had finally seen me. So when, one Friday, when he texted to ask if I would stay the weekend, I replied almost immediately. I’d never spent the night. I packed a bag, and my senses tickled at the anticipation of a make-out session. It was a very physical weekend. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other; we did everything except have sex. But, while I enjoyed every bit of it, let’s just say he wasn’t very generous. During foreplay – which I exclusively performed on him – I mentally planned how I’d ghost him once the weekend was over. We couldn’t get enough of locking lips (Picture: Getty Images/Tetra images RF) Despite our physical attraction, it had finally sunk in that he was never going to treat me right. On the Sunday night, I got into bed. He was still working in another room; I’d had enough of him by this point so I tried to go to sleep. And I started to dream. When I woke up, confused and panicked, post-wee, I scrambled out of bed to assess the damage. It was not good. I stood in the darkness, wondering what to do. I didn’t want to turn the light on in case Christian saw and came into the bedroom. After what felt like an eternity of standing paralysed, I grabbed the duvet and folded it up over the soaked patch on the mattress. What would you have done? I hogged the duvet so he wouldn’t touch it (Picture: Getty Images) I stuffed my wet shorts in my bag and grabbed a pair of his boxers. Then I lay on top of the duvet, desperately hoping it would absorb the dampness – and the smell – before he came in. Soon, I heard movement at the bedroom door. ‘Oh my God,’ I thought, as my heart pounded. ‘Please don’t let him pull on the duvet!’. I must have repeated it a hundred times in my head. Thankfully, he didn’t – but I didn’t sleep a wink all night. When he went to the bathroom in the morning, I quickly felt under the duvet. It wasn’t as wet but there was no doubt that I would have to fess up. So, How Did It Go? Contact jess.austin@metro.co.uk As he emerged from the loo, I cleared my throat: ‘Christian?’ ‘Yes?’ It was now or never. ‘I peed in your bed. I swear, it wasn’t intentional. I was dreaming, and then it happened.’ I blurted the words out, my eyes avoiding his face. I was afraid of seeing an expression that would hurt me but I couldn’t help but look at him when I saw him moving. To my great surprise, there was a kind smile. He started to strip the bed. ‘Don’t worry,’ he said. ‘It happens.’ He started to stuff the bedding into a bag. I’d been expecting him to complain or make fun of me. I didn’t think he’d be so tender about it. As he drove away, I blocked his number (Picture: Getty Images/iStockphoto) We went to his car – he put the bag with the damp sheets in the back, presumably to take it to the dry cleaners. We didn’t say anything to each other during the drive, except ‘goodbye’ when he dropped me off. As he drove away, I blocked his number. Despite the moment of kindness, I didn’t want to see him again. And deep down, I knew he knew he might not contact me either. I’ve always wondered how he dealt with the stained bed itself, if he told his friends about it, and what he said about me.
