Recalling the abuse, Fiona said: “It started off with sexualised comments about how I’d grow up and have ‘big boobs’, find a man and have a good life because of my ‘big boobs.’ I was ten. He was just obsessed. “When I hit puberty, he started taking photos of me. I was told what to wear and remember being dressed in a corset for the first one. “Then he groped me in his kitchen, I wasn’t really sure how to take it, because at this point, I’d already been raped by my own brother and cousin. “Alex was just another monster, acting in a way which was normalised in my twisted household.” She says her grandad would carry out further sick attacks in his car, while he ran his pals back and forth to the bingo in the evenings. She said: “He’d call my mum and say he needed company. He’d pick me up and I’d sit in the car with him. “I would try and just be on my phone the whole time, but he would try and touch me.” 'I feared I wouldn't be believed' ABUSE survivor Fiona told how she didn’t have the courage to report the on-going hell she was suffering in her childhood - because she feared she wouldn’t be believed. She said “I saw the police a lot through my childhood and I wonder why I just didn’t say anything while I had the chance. “But once I tried to tell a social worker and they didn’t believe me. “We were always told, ‘you don’t need the police, you can just sort it out amongst the family. “I was also worried about uprooting my other siblings, if they went into care. “I just didn’t have the courage, I thought I needed their approval for everything.” It was only when she was in her 20s that she made official complaints against her brother and cousin – and the abuse she alleges was carried out by her grandad Alexander Sives and uncle Robert Sives. She said: “I’ll never forget the day I told my support worker about my granda and uncle, after telling them about John and David. “I needed reassurance that the police would get warrants for their arrest before I told them everything. “I didn’t want them taking my statement and then for them to wait before making arrests – and my abusers having the chance to delete evidence. “They were charged at the same time apparently, since they lived together.” Fiona says she feels “mixed emotions” that both her grandad and uncle, both formerly of Livingston, died before she got “justice” Credit: Andrew Barr Then, when Fiona started a pre-college course when she was in third year at secondary school, Alex picked her up, and would drive her to secluded country roads near Beecraigs Country Park in West Lothain to abuse her. She said: “This would happen twice a week. He just pounced on me and it sometimes hurt. I basically held my breath and let me mind go somewhere else. “He would make me do and say things to play out his sick fantasies. And he turned his dash cam round to film it all. I lie awake worrying where these images and videos have ended up. ”Another time, he took me to a ride on his motorbike. We were headed for Skye, but only made it as far as Fort William because we fell off twice due to oil on the road. “A lovely woman and her two boys gave me a lift home. “Alex later told me that he’d planned to take me to a hotel to have sex with me that night. “I don’t even know who this woman is, but she will never know how much she saved me.” And the abuse allegedly happened in his home too – behind a partition wall in his living room , a space full of junk, like the old TVs and radios he collected. 'I cry when I look at old pictures' Brave Fiona Seath told how she “cries” for her younger self when she looks at old pictures. The mum-of-three said it’s taken a lot of time for her to process and recover from what happened to her – and a lot of medication. She said: “I feel like I was a very judged child, just for the way I acted. “I was called a sl*t for the way I dressed, the way I acted, the things I’d say. I struggled at school when I was sent there – my granda would phone and pull sickies for me, so I could sit in his house all day. “It was easier for me to continue being that person that everyone thought I was and just accept that I was worthless.” She said she thinks she deserved better, adding: “I cry for me as a child, I just wish she had a different life. “I just feel very sorry for younger me. She 100% deserved much better. “I was singled out from my siblings and treated like second class, even in the old clothes I had to wear.” Fiona has found a circle of friends who have been a huge support, as well as her partner and kids. She added: “Some family members supported me, but as soon as the first two cases went to court, they backed off. “I feel proud of the woman I am today. I can finally hold my head up high, knowing my truth and that I survived.” She accused her sick relatives of robbing her of her childhood Credit: Andrew Barr Fiona eventually left home in her late teens and thought she’d seen the back of the abuse when she welcomed her first baby into the world. She said: “To my anger, Alex came into the hospital and was the one to drive us to my flat. “I remember when I was upstairs at his and my mum and granny were downstairs, he grabbed hold of my chest and tried to pull my top down. “I roared at him and marched downstairs and out of the door – that was the last time I set foot in that house.” Her uncle Robert targeted her, in his own bedroom, when she was sent round to carry out errands for her relatives. She said: “Robert was disabled and used a wheelchair, but got around on crutches inside. “I’d be sent upstairs with a tray of food for him. It started out with sexual comments and making me watch porn but then he was very forceful and would trap me into situations, by asking me to get something from under his desk or he’d trap me against his desk and bed, so I couldn’t get out. ”He would touch me and made me perform oral sex. When I told him about John raping me, he said it was normal for siblings to have sex. “All four of them – my brother, cousin, grandad and uncle – were ripping my childhood apart”. We told how her brother Sime, of Uphall, and Johnston, of Broxburn, both West Lothian, denied all allegations against them in separate cases at the High Court in Livingston last September and January. But juries returned guilty verdicts on both over their depraved crimes.Johnston, was caged for nine years and Sime seven years. And both were placed on the sex offenders register for life. Fiona says she feels “mixed emotions” that both her grandad and uncle, both formerly of Livingston, died before she got “justice”. She said: “I burst out crying when I found out Alex was dead because I could breathe sigh of relief, knowing that they were both dead and the other two are in jail. “I no longer have to worry about looking over my shoulder. I hope they all rots in hell for what they put me through – and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had other victims out there suffering in silence. “I can finally hold my head up high and tell my full story. I just hope it inspires others to report abuse and get help.”
