I was raped at knifepoint by intruder while my toddler slept – monster explained why in chilling two-word confession

READING peacefully in bed after an exhausting day visiting her husband in hospital, a 32-year-old mother had no idea of the monster lurking in the shadows of her Surrey home. In a heartbeat, her world was shattered when the horrifying silhouette of 28-year-old Lee Hill appeared in the darkness outside her bedroom. For four agonising hours, the terrified mum was tortured and repeatedly raped in a nightmare ordeal – that Hill later chillingly admitted was “for fun”. Just hours after surviving her attack, the selfless mum put on a brave face to throw a birthday party for her daughter. Astonishingly, Hill had been released from prison just five months earlier after serving a nine-year sentence for another brutal attack. In June 1993, he had broken into a woman’s home through a study window – using a metal lawn edge trimmer stolen from her garden shed to saw through the lock – before punching her in the face and raping her on her living room sofa for over an hour. When Hill was finally brought to justice in 2000 he was handed three life sentences with a 25-year minimum term. Sentencing Judge Valerie Pearlman warned he was “very dangerous,” had “great potential for harm to women,” and was “likely to commit similar offences in the future”. Detective Sergeant Stephen Farley, who caught the beast, similarly branded him a “danger to women” for many years to come. Hill, from Walton-on-Thames, was placed on the sex offenders’ register and police licence for life. And bravely trying to regain her life, his victim became a counsellor working with victims of crime. Yet the nightmare did not end there. First eligible for parole in 2012, Hill met his victim behind bars in 2014 during a restorative justice session. There, the cold-blooded rapist – who had just had a failed suicide attempt days previously – made a chilling confession: he had planned to break in and attack someone purely for his own enjoyment. Determined to protect others, the brave mother spent years campaigning alongside government ministers and the parole board to improve how the justice system treats victims and to keep her attacker behind bars. She repeatedly warned authorities that Hill was an “extreme danger” who would strike again. Her pleas were ignored. In June 2024, the parole board declared Hill, now 51, safe to be managed in the community and set him free. Now, less than two years after his controversial release, the monster has been hauled back behind bars. And his victim – already dealing with the trauma of his release – has been kept in the dark over why he has once again been caged. Probation officers put Hill back in prison last week, but are refusing to tell the mum-of-two why he was recalled. Efforts by The Sun to establish why he has been recalled have also been resisted by the Ministry of Justice. “I think it’s cruel that they won’t tell me,” she said. “They put the victims last, as ever.” A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: “Offenders released on license are subject to strict conditions, and we do not hesitate to recall them to prison if they break the rules and pose a risk to the public.”
