A sense of collective trauma hangs over Cambridge Terrace in Auckland's Papatoetoe, after a number of people - including children - saw a bloodied dead body on the doorstep of a suburban house on Thursday night. When police arrived at the scene around 6.40pm on Thursday, they found another two bodies.RNZ has been told by multiple sources that two children live at the property, but has not been able to confirm whether they are among the deceased.'I don't want to stay here anymore'The community is reeling from the deaths. One resident, George, said he was "not really good at the moment" after seeing the body. His seven-year-old daughter saw it as well."She was crying. That's why we came home."RNZ / Felix WaltonRachel, who is George's mother, said her family "didn't sleep well" after hearing three people had died."It's not safe here anymore... I'll be honest, I'm really scared."I don't want to stay here anymore, I want to move out. I want to find another place. Scary."Royce Walker managed to prevent his granddaughter from seeing the body across the road."I thought it was a female lying on the concrete, but when I looked again it was a male. It's pretty freaky, saw the blood everywhere," he said."I am pretty shaken up, especially learning this morning about another two inside. That's very shocking. Never think it would happen so close to home, you know what I mean?"It's very scary. I'm very just lost at the moment."RNZ / Felix WaltonHe described the property's residents as a good family who would regularly stop to chat.Manukau Ward councillor Alf Filipaina, who served as a police officer for more than 38 years, has a message for those affected by what they saw on Thursday night."My humble suggestion, being in the police for quite a few years and seeing quite a few incidents that people should never see, is just to seek help for themselves as well. It's so important to do that. That'll be the message and just talk to each other about it as well because that'll help."Deaths were an isolated incident, Police sayPolice detectives and forensic teams spent all day at the property on Friday, a blue tent erected in front of the main entrance.Authorities have released very little information about what happened at the house on Thursday night, and have declined requests to be interviewed.Counties Manukau District Commander Shanan Gray released a short message on Facebook, in which he passed on his condolences to the family at the centre of the incident."I know the family at this time will be reeling at the loss of three family members. Police are working with the family to ensure that they have the necessary support wrapped around them," he said."What I also want to do is provide reassurance to the community that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to members of the public."
